The Badgers were No. 25 in both the final USA TODAY coaches poll and the final AP Poll, which were released on April 7.
That was down five spots in the coaches poll and six spots in the AP Poll from where the Badgers were before their first-round loss to 12th-seeded High Point in the NCAA Tournament.
It is Wisconsin's second consecutive season that ended with a postseason ranking. The Badgers were No. 16 in both polls after losing in the second round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
Big Ten teams ahead of the Badgers in the coaches poll include No. 1 Michigan, No. 5 Illinois, No. 7 Purdue, No. 11 Michigan State, No. 14 Nebraska and No. 19 Iowa.
The Badgers are one of 16 teams to be ranked in the final coaches poll in both 2025 and 2026. The only other Big Ten teams in that group are Purdue, Michigan State and Michigan.
Wisconsin finished with a 24-11 overall record and 14-6 Big Ten record. The Badgers appeared in their eighth NCAA Tournament in 10 chances under Greg Gard's tutelage although their first-round exit marked eight consecutive tournament without a trip to the Sweet 16.
USA TODAY already has the Badgers as the No. 24 team in its too-early Top 25 rankings despite UW's loss of at least four starters (barring any portal withdrawals).
