Mackenna Hinderks, an All-Area First Team selection, returns for her junior season after helping the Jaguars finish 6-11, including a 4-9 record in Camden Conference play.
Hinderks, one of the area's top pitchers, is a dual-threat. In the circle, she went 6-8 with 168 strikeouts over 91-2/3 innings pitched. Hinderks broke the school record for the most strikeouts in a game after sitting down 18 batters against Hancock on April 17.
The junior standout is also a weapon offensively for RCW. She hit for a .426 average, an .889 slugging percentage and a 1.355 on-base-plus-slugging percentage with 25 RBIs and 14 runs.
Hinderks and company will be coached by new head coach Pamela Winzenburg, who replaces Dean Ehlebracht after he was at the helm for one season.
Winzenburg noted that RCW is technically in a co-op with Central Minnesota Christian School, but all the players on her roster for this year are from RCW.
"We are hopeful that next year there will be more of a mixed roster," Winzenburg said.
Ella Gustafson, a catcher/shortstop who only competed in three games last spring due to an injury, and Maddy Engstrom, an infielder, are both seniors who return as starters.
RCW also brings back three other key juniors along with Hinderks.
Annette Carlson, a junior infielder, returns alongside outfielder/pitcher/infielder Gracie Viessman and second baseman/outfielder Venna Veglahn, who held a .293 batting average last year.
