Random Ramsdom: If they can’t get Jimmy G, then the draft?
· Yahoo Sports
I think that the Los Angeles Rams could wind up with Jimmy Garoppolo by the time the season starts, but if they enter the NFL Draft without Jimmy G, then should they draft one?
L.A. doesn’t have to draft a high-end QB, but they could take a later round flyer to challenge Stetson Bennett, and perhaps earn a relevant role.

I suppose there is a reality that if Matthew Stafford goes down, then this team could be out of luck, but still, you plan for the worst even when it’s the worst, right?
It’s just interesting. Another thought for Jimmy G is his chance as a transition QB for the Rams whenever Stafford is done. You can read more about that below.

NFL insider presents nightmare Rams post-Matthew Stafford QB plan (ramblinfan)
““Jimmy Garoppolo is still available, and I think, at this stage of his career, the likelihood is that he’ll find a place as a high-end backup,” Breer wrote. “His experience with the Rams was a good one, and I’d think that door would still be open, and perhaps set him up to be a bridge quarterback whenever Matthew Stafford decides to walk away.”
Slowly but surely, Garoppolo’s list of landing spots has dwindled, with the Rams looking like one of the few options left. They can each benefit from getting back together for 2026 — but Los Angeles is better off looking elsewhere for its post-Stafford stopgap.“
Rams Linked to ‘Matthew Stafford-Related’ Playmaker at No. 13 (heavy.com)
“The Los Angeles Rams could be star hunting in the 2026 NFL Draft.
NFL Insider Peter Schrager’s latest mock draft has the Rams selecting wide receiver Makai Lemon with the No. 13 overall pick — a sign that the franchise is prioritizing the support for its MVP quarterback.
“This is more Matthew Stafford-related and getting him another weapon for his potential last run,” Schrager said on The Pat McAfee Show. “Makai Lemon is everything that Les Snead and Sean McVay love.”

“I can’t imagine Snead being happy not having any draft picks after his 3rd rounder. I think that’s why they made the McDuffie trade…he plans on trading down and adding another 3rd and maybe a 4th or 5th. How much the Rams get is LARGELY dependent on who is still on the board at #13….if Sadiq or Delane is still there, someone will sell the house for that pick, and the Rams can move down and have 4 top 100 picks. In my humble opinion, in a normal draft class, many of these players are 2nd and 3rd round quality.” -JeffinBranson
