The Pune Municipal Corporation’s Standing Committee has approved a tender worth ₹70.88 lakh for the recruitment of technical assistants and multi-tasking staff for upcoming census-related work, informed Chairman Shrinath Bhimale. He said that the census is a crucial administrative exercise and requires adequate manpower for its accurate execution.
Accordingly, the proposal to appoint technical assistants and multi-tasking staff has been cleared to ensure the smooth conduct of the process.

The census will be carried out in two phases. In the first phase, listing and enumeration of houses will be undertaken. Citizens will also be given the option of self-enumeration between May 1 and May 15. This will be followed by field enumeration from May 16 to June 14.
The entire process will be supported by digital technology, with data from each household being recorded through a mobile application. This is expected to enhance accuracy, transparency and data security.
