HUNTER: Canada also flunks keeping villains from fleeing country

Noah Singh is in the wind.

Cops have been looking for him for nearly three years. There’s a good chance he has fled the country, although investigators haven’t said so.
Canada has been adept at opening the floodgates to killers, crooks, terrorists, and all manner of nefarious characters. Often, they just waltz in. If a slew of recent stories is any indication, we’re also piss-poor at stopping the accused from fleeing justice.
Why would police be looking for a baby-faced thug like Noah Singh?
It is the tragic outcome of Singh allegedly trying to prove his manliness in a Sudbury watering hole.
Shot execution-style
On April 21, 2023, Singh and a 16-year-old kid got into an argument with a guy named Joe Cabigon and another man. The bartender booted them but, according to Harold Carmichael of the Sudbury Star citing cops, Cabigon and his friend returned.
A short time later, the Toronto-area youth, now 19, allegedly strolled into the bar and shot Cabigon in the back of the head. The boy told detectives that his buddy Singh had ordered him to execute Cabigon. And if he didn’t, the teen now charged with first-degree murder feared that baby-faced Singh would murder him and his family.
“He would shoot me,” the teen testified, as per the Star. “He would, and he had guns … I was afraid they would shoot me. I didn’t think anybody could help me in that situation. I knew they would kill me.”
Singh is wanted for being a party to the offence of first-degree murder, possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, conspiracy to commit murder, and uttering threats.
Prosecutors didn’t want to release his name
Here’s the punchline: Prosecutors didn’t want to release Singh’s name and photo because … uh… they feared witnesses could be subject to intimidation. And, uh, mainly to protect the thug’s right to a … fair trial (emphasis mine).
Now, no one knows where Noah Singh is hanging his hat. He is on the roster as Canada’s 10th most wanted fugitive.
In recent days, the list has been littered with accused killers and other criminals who authorities claim have “fled the country.” How do they get out?
Trucker fled Canada
Brampton trucker Navjeet Singh, 26, got out of Dodge in the wake of a deadly crash in Manitoba that killed Sara Unger, 35, and her 8-year-old daughter, Alexa. He was charged with dangerous driving causing death and obstructing a peace officer. Before talking to cops, he split. Nine months later, flying into Toronto, he was arrested.
Bizarrely, a Manitoba judge served up bail.
Speaking of Brampton, police are hunting 27-year-old spurned lover Manpreet Singh for the second-degree murder of 27-year-old Amanpreet Saini of North York last October. Her body was found at a Niagara-area park off Hwy. 406 and she had suffered “traumatic injuries.” Singh, too, fled the country but was nabbed in India where cops say he allegedly threatened the victim’s family.
Arambir Singh is another charmer. The 24-year-old is wanted for the brutal murder of his girlfriend in Surrey, B.C. He was charged with second-degree murder in early March for the slaying of Navdeep Kaur, 28.
She was reported missing in February 2024. Her remains were found five months later in the Fraser River.
“Singh may have fled the country, but that will not stop us from pursuing him,” Sgt. Freda Fong said, putting on a brave face.
In Sudbury, the teen on trial for the barroom execution of Joe Cabigon, testified that Noah Singh boasted of getting away with a murder and a couple of attempts.
“He was my friend. He was nice to me. He showed love … I thought he was trying to teach me,” the teen said, sounding for all the world like the judiciary, immigration authorities and the faculty lounge.
