Taking on No. 1 seed Reese Larramendy from Iowa, who handed Mir her only loss during the collegiate season, the daughter of UFC legend Frank Mir came out with an offensive onslaught as soon as the match started. Already up with an early takedown, Mir reversed a Larramendy takedown attempt and she immediately rolled to pin her shoulders to end the match before the first period expired.

It was an incredibly impressive performance as Mir captured her first title after finishing in second place in 2025.

“I think I was just not in the right mindset,” Mir said about her earlier loss to Larramendy during the season. “When you have fans and teammates like that, how in the hell do I lose?”

With plans to eventually transition full-time to MMA, Mir closed out her post fight interview by saying “I think we’re going to go have a fight” when asked what’s next for her. She currently holds a 4-0 record in her MMA career.

When the finals started, Mir got the first score with a pushout in the opening period as she matched strength with strength going up against Larramendy. She followed up with a well-timed takedown to go up 3-0 with her father cheering her on from the corner.

A moment later, Larramendy attempted to get some points of her own with a takedown attempt but Mir reversed and put the Iowa wrestler on her back and she held the position perfectly to get the pin as the referee stopped the match. Mir jumped up in celebration as she claimed a national title for North Central College after previously wrestling at Iowa before her transfer.

Widely recognized as one of the best prospects coming up in the women’s divisions, Mir previously told MMA Fighting that she planned to primarily stay focused on wrestling with hopes of representing the United States at the 2028 Olympics, which take place in Los Angeles. Mir has also become a force in grappling after competing in UFC BJJ several times as well.

With this latest win, Mir can add NCAA champion to her growing resume of accomplishments.
