The knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League no longer utilize away goals as a tiebreaker in two-legged ties, meaning that all matchups that are even on aggregate after 90 minutes go to extra time.
Extra time consists of two 15-minute periods and the affair goes to a penalty shootout if things are still even after the additional 30 minutes.

UEFA dropped the away goals rule for the 2021-22 season. Under the previous system, the team that scored more away goals in the two-legged matchup had the tiebreaker and would advance without extra time.
The knockout stage playoffs wrapped up on Feb. 25, with the aggregate winners of the two-legged ties securing a spot in the tournament's Round of 16.
