Lakers Add Another Dodgers Executive to Front Office Staff
· Yahoo Sports
The Los Angeles Lakers are using the Los Angeles Dodgers as a blueprint for building a winning sports franchise. The Lakers have now added another executive from the reigning back-to-back World Series championship organization to their own front office.
The Lakers reportedly hired Dodgers executive Lon Rosen as the new president of business operations. Rosen has served as the executive president and chief marketing officer for the Dodgers since 2012, which is the same year Lakers and Dodgers owner Mark Walter purchased the baseball team.

“Finding someone who could fill Tim’s shoes overseeing the business side of our organization would never be easy,” Lakers president Jeanie Buss said in a statement, per ESPN. “The answer, we soon realized, was someone both Mark and I knew well — and who already understood the values, culture and commitment to excellence of both the Dodgers and the Lakers.”
Rosen started his sports career with the Lakers in 1980 as an intern and front office executive. He also became a business partner with Magic Johnson, who is a minority owner of the Lakers and Dodgers.
Lakers Are Getting Help From Two Other Dodgers Executives
Before hiring Rosen, the Lakers placed Dodgers front office executives Andrew Friedman and Farhan Zaidi into advisory roles in November. The pair have helped guide the Lakers through key decisions like roster moves.
In addition to hiring Dodgers executives into the front office, Los Angeles reportedly plans to “mimic the Dodgers’ draft process and farm system structure”, according to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.
The Dodgers have won three World Series championship since the 2020 season. The Lakers hope to find that same level of success by following the Dodgers’ lead and building around superstar Luka Doncic.
