If the season ended today, UConn women’s basketball would be the top overall seed in the 2026 NCAA Tournament. On Saturday, the selection committee revealed its top 16 teams for the first time and put the Huskies atop their list.

At 27-0, UConn is the last undefeated team left in the country. The defending national champions own six Quad 1 wins and seven Quad 2 wins, which is good enough for the No. 1 slot in the NCAA’s NET Rankings. The Huskies also hold the top spot in the AP Poll, Bart Torvik rankings and Her Hoop Stats ratings.

UConn current ranks 18th in strength of schedule — one spot behind No. 3 South Carolina and four spots ahead of No. 4 Vanderbilt — but that’s dragged down by a weak Big East conference. The Huskies played the toughest non-conference slate among power conference teams.

Elsewhere in the bracket reveal, UConn has beaten four other teams in the top 16: No. 6 Michigan, No. 7 Louisville, No. 9 Ohio State and No. 11 Iowa.

The next bracket reveal will be on March 1. Selection Sunday is set for March 15 at 8 p.m. ET.
